The memorial was decided to be done in 1997 as a way to remember those who were lost in the bombing as well as those who survived and it is also a way to reflect upon what has happened. As a result of the Oklahoma City National Monument, people feel there is a need to memorialize the tragedy of the bombing of the Twin Towers. Because the Oklahoma City Monument has meant so much to so many people and has given loved ones a chance to remember, it would only be fitting to create a monument to the World Trade Center that would be as effective as that of the Oklahoma City National Monument. The Oklahoma City National Monument is now considered one of the best monuments or memorials in the United States. It is now getting almost as much recognition as the Vietnam Memorial or the Lincoln Memorial.
