Neil Parry Defies the Odds

On September 18, 2003, Neil Parry of the San Jose State football team played his first down of college football in 35 months.

Parry lost his lower right leg in 2000 as a result of a break that occurred during a Spartans football game. In the records of football history Neil Parry’s heroism and determination after the loss of his leg will stand out as a remarkable accomplishment. He deserves enormous credit! But more importantly he deserves recognition, recognition for what he accomplished and what he represents. Neil Parry serves as a role model for our youth, a role model that they should follow. He represents what sports are all about: spirit, challenge and a never quit attitude.

Neil Parry’s story was different. I c
