Western civilization expanded from a matchless blend of the Jews, the Christians, the Greeks, and the Romans. Each society had an important contribution to the West. The Jews and Christians taught the model of brotherhood. From the Greeks, we are taught to value freedom. From Rome we learn that the people should go by the law. Western civilization was intelligent. The Jews had a capability to maintain knowledge. When the Hebrews faced struggles while in the desert their God, Yahweh, sent them food to eat. At the same time He proposed Moses with the Ten Commandments and other laws. These commandments and laws created Judaism and their beliefs. They believed that Yahweh would keep them from having any earthly harm. Some of the prophets began to teach the doctrine of salvation after death. Those who followed Gods rules would have everlasting life and those who did not obey Him would have everlasting torture. Isaiah, a Hebrew prophet, preached that one day a great Messiah would come to end all of the suffering and t
The Christians were open-minded. They felt that Jesus’ messages were extremely important in practicing their religion. They saw that the spirit of God’s law could be found through these messages. The spread of Christianity was the labor of devoted missionaries that were led by Paul, Peter, and John. Christianity closed the gap that was left by the fade of Roman authority. The Christians believed that if the laws were followed then Jesus would grant eternal life. This religion became the official religion in Rome (29-31). The Jews showed sensibility and rationality by believing that if they followed the laws they would have salvation and would please Him, which helped the Christians endure a sense of religious value and brotherhood.
