However, people might think that drinking is not such an immoral act, therefore would not consider this novel sinful, but there is another good reason to believe it is. Cheating on ones couple is not moral, this is something constantly seen in this novel. Tom, although being married to Daisy, has “some woman in New York” (p.21) and Jordan is surprised to find out that Nick has no idea about this because she “thought everybody knew” (p.21) meaning it is not something that Tom has as a secret. Apart of being something dishonest to cheat on ones couple, Tom does not even have the decency of keeping it secret, making matters even worse; he even wants Nick to meet his girl, not even caring that Nick is Daisy’s cousin. This is not the only affair that is witnessed in this novel, although Daisy acts as if she were resigned to accept her husband’s affair, meanwhile, she has gone “over quite often – in the afternoons” (p. 120) to Gatsby’s house.
