During the time of our beloved Declaration, an issue was being discussed. This issue was mostly from the southern colonies, slavery. A terrible word in or eyes today, but back then it was simple smart. During that period of time, few choose to fight back. A few of the slaves had the boldness to make our America what it is today. Harriet Tubman’s original name was Araminta Ross. She was one of eleven children of Harriet and Benjamin Ross, born into slavery in Dorche
It is believed that Harriet knew the land so well, that she even knew the way out. Harriet’s invention, The Underground railroad was created by pure knowledge. It was designed to be an unknown passage that only Harriet knew and that she could follow. She decided to take that turn on the trail because she herself had once been a slave. She couldn’t bear to see them suffer so she took pity on them.
