America's Cup
Yacht racing’s most prestigious event the America’s Cup has a long and fruitful history. What is generally referred to as the America's Cup however, is in fact an umbrella term for two competitions. The Louis Vuitton Cup is the one where the "challengers" race against each other for the chance to compete in the America's Cup. Both events require training and preparation in order to be the winner. The one point that should stressed, is that the America’s Cup competition should not take the form by others as an elitist sporting event. The Louis Vuitton Challenger Selection Series or better known as the Louis Vuitton Cup is the series where challenging syndicates compete in order to win the Louis Vuitton Cup, and the right to compete against the defender of the America’s Cup. The Louis Vuitton Cup starts off with two Round Robins, where each syndicate will race each of the others once per round. At the end of these two rounds a pecking order based on races won will have been established with the fleet seeded from one to eight. The height first syndicates are qualified for the Quarter Finals. hours the pay off at the end of an event. Training for the Louis Vuitton and America’s Cup is one the toughest practices that has been dealt with. Imagine, tacking (which is moving the sailing from on side of the boat to the next) over seventy-five times in one race along, plus in twenty knots of breeze. Training and preparation should not be a not want to do thing but a must. There is a saying; preparation always win in competition. Leadership is also a must in a team, everyone should assume the role of leadership which is the driving force behind any and everything. The America’s Cup and the Louis Vuitton Cup has had its influence on many and many more are to come. A very staggering statement about the cup is: queens covet it, billionaires battle over it, nations erupt over it; and this will continue to happen. Vesting teams has fought aggressively for ownership of the cup, but good and proper training prevails. Like any other event celebration is needed in order to put a close to that phase. As a very humbling trophy it stands out as a Victorian ewer that is know as the oldest trophy in sports. The long history of the America’s Cup
