Sometimes when soldiers were aiming for the enemy, somebody on their side of the war got in the way. Most of the soldiers did not notice this because they were protecting themselves from the enemy and were not paying attention to the people behind them that were firing at the enemy. These people did not notice that they were in the way and got shot by someone on their own side. About 4,000 soldiers died by this. When you are killed by someone on your own side, it is called Death by Friendly-Fire. There is a difference between accidental death and murder. Murder is usually premeditated, while accidental death is not meaning at all to kill the person. When one human being takes the life of another human being with hatred it is considered murder. More than 500 people died with murder as the cause of their death. Death by murder implies that the death was unrelated to the central issues or disputes that caused the Civil War.
