Industrial Revoliton

The Industrial Revolution was a revolution in the ways goods were being produced. This was the switch from hand tools to machinery, and the switch from homes to factories. The Industrial Revolution was a time when a lot of new inventions were coming out. Some of the outcomes of these inventions, like the spinning jenny and the cotton gin, helped people of that time and made their life easier. Some outcomes from these inventions were not as helpful, and caused the spread of slavery. Although the Industrial Revolution brought some hard times to America, the struggle was worth it. With the Industrial Revolution, America was modernized. We grew through this experience.

Yet with this profitable cash crop came struggles and tough times. Some of the costs of the Revolution were the spread of slavery and the immigrants. Slaves in the South had very hard labor. They worked all day long, some just picking the seeds out of raw cotton. Slavery was dying down when Southern Plantation owners realized that cotton was not going to be a very profitable cash crop. If Eli Whitney had not come along and invented the cotton gin, slavery may have just ended right then and we would not have had to fight the civil war. Another cost of the Industrial Revolution was the immigrants. The immigrants were the people who were most likely to work in the Northern mills. This was because most immigrants mainly come to America because of hard times in their country. The mills were a horrible place to work. They were loud and not very sanitary. Many people died.
