“A child without a Dad”

In the story, “Fathers Provide Bridge Over the River Goo,” Kathleen Parker shares her personal point of view on the importance of fathers. Raised by her father since she was 3, Kathleen describes how thanks to her father she possessed a stronger self-esteem than those girls who didn’t have a father. Kathleen also expresses her worries about, “the many girls growing up without fathers owing to divorce, divisive custody arrangements or the misguided decisions of some women to become single mothers. I disagree with Kathleen Parker. Yes, a father figure is important in a child’s life, but not necessary. Women who have financial means to support their child should do so, even if the father chooses not involved. I believe that women who raise kids without a father figure are just as strong as those who do provide a father figure. Children without a father figure are capable of building up a strong self-esteem, maintaining a great conf


Second, children without a father figure are capable of maintaining a great confidence. A single mother can help their child maintain confidence by their own example. For example, I see that my mom has struggled to raise my sister and me without a father, but this was never a problem for my mother. I have seen that no matter what the problem is, whether it is getting a job, or paying the bills, she has maintained a strong confidence. Her example has helped me build up a confidence that is not exactly as hers but better. Seeing how she struggles makes me think twice about my actions. Do I want my future kids to be without a father? Absolutely not, but unfortunately life isn’t always as good as a Mr. Goodbar. The more positive influences a child has, the better self-confidence he or she will possess. One person is as important as two persons in teaching their children about always having a positive attitude.
