Da shedmen
When growing up in a city, you don’t really get to experience the closeness as if you’ve grown up in a smaller town or bay. It seems to me that those who have grown up in these bays and towns know more about their community’s local folklore, when it comes to nicknames of certain places, people, and traditions. When I meet people with these types of backgrounds, they always have a few stories to tell about were there from. When I think of were I was raised, Mt. Pearl I can’t seem to remember any nicknames with regards to local hang outs, riffraff’s or community traditions. But I have experienced a few good nicknames through friends and family, here are a some dating back as far as elementary school and as recent as a year or two ago.I am part of a group, that some refer to as “Da Shedmen” the group consists of four people, Bulls Eye Barns (me), Fat Fingers Farrell (Mike Farrell), Hussey Gussey (Blair Dune), and Doubles Duggan (Mike Duggan). A few winters back the four of us were finding ourselves very bored on the weekends, so one Saturday night we decided to dig out the shed in my backyard, throw a load of wood in the fireplace, play some darts, watch the hockey game, and have a few beers.
