UAV
What are UAVs? UAVs are mostly known as unmanned air vehicles. UAVs fly within the atmosphere and are not rocket propelled. These UAVs are very useful in high risk missions. UAVs were used extensively in the U.S. Iraq conflict. Different terms are used to identify UAVs. Some of these terms are cruise missiles, target drones, and reconnaissance drones .UAVs can be as large as a jetliner or as small as a model airplane. They can be jet or propeller driven. The success rate of a UAV is 99.99%. This makes it a very lethal and useful tool. UAVs have amazing attributes that are so useful for the U.S. military. The U.S. is very fond of UAVs because of its ability to strike targets with precision and substantial protection from interception of Anti-Air craft emplacements. Another great use of UAVs is that it’s able to collect real-time intelligence and relay it back to U.S. intelligence off a satellite. This is why it makes a threat for UAVs to be in the hands of our adversaries. This makes a threat to the U.S. and to our allies. However, UAVs have the capability of having weapons of mass destruction mounted on. But nevertheless, they also have the capability of delivering a chemical and biological strike. UAVs have the ability to relea
se aerosols over other countries at high altitudes infecting millions. Iraq has been converting L-29 trainer aircraft to UAVs for possible chemical and biological strike. This makes it possible for terrorist groups to produce and or get a hold of a small UAV and use them for chemical and biological strike. There have been many modifications to the original UAVs. The first UAV was piloted by remote control. This was a big problem because they weren’t able to fly very far because of visibility limitations. With time, Israelis made a long range RC UAV. Later the United States came out with even a superior UAV. They named it the Predator. This was mainly used to take thousands of pictures in risky no fly zones. The predator was used by the CIA pursuing terrorist activity. “The Predator fired a hellfire missile killing six Al-Quida terrorist in Yemen on November 3, 2002” (uav.wff.nasa.gov). The Predator consists of three parts. The air vehicle with its sensors and communications equipment, the ground control station, and the data dissemination system. This system also has an extraordinarily surveillance system that can see through clouds. Koreans are also figuring out ways of making UAVs more effici
