Life of Charles Dickens

The life, work and death of Charles Dickens an English novelist. The author of such classics as Oliver Twist, A Tale of Two Cities, A Christmas Carol, and David Copperfeild.

Charles Dickens was born in England on February 7, 1812. He spent his early years in London and Kent. Both of these Cities appear quit often in his Novels. His education did not start until he was about nine years old. However he could not get fully educated because his father who was a minor civil servant was imprisoned. With no family, Charles dickens was forced to support himself by working at a factory making shoe-polish. He was very embarrassed by this, which caused him to describe his life, although very briefly in the book “David Copperfeild”, which was released in 1849. Dickens wanted to come back to school and get properly educated. In the year 1824 he did, but again quit in the year 1826. He was self-educated and felt he did not need school. He was well read, his favorite books were written by the 18-th century novelists Henry Fielding and Tobias Smollett. Their influence shows in most of Dickens’s Novels.
