Marriage is defined as the society whereby men and women are joined in a special kind of social and legal belief for the purpose of beginning and upholding a family. Some same sex marriages may be talented enough to manage financially, however the negative influence has been proven by children raised in a homosexual household. Not only would same sex families deal with negative allegations in conditions of their children, but most religions in North America frown upon the joining together of same sex relationships and limit marriage to one man and one woman. Many people believe God created man and woman with the purpose to bear children. In addition, they stress the nonexistence of homosexuality in the Bible. Enemies of homosexual marriages observe homosexuality as an irregular behavior according to the Christian faith, which is the dominant religion in the United States. Homosexuality has been seen as an unacceptable lifestyle and those who practice it are level to receive criticism if not utter resentment. Most respectable ministers would refuse to marry two people of the same sex, limiting the couple to being married in commercial areas by materialistic preachers or the court rooms. This choice forces many same sex couples to forego legal marriage and recognize their union themselves. Even being at the risk of being disliked from the religious community, homosexuals pursue their lifestyle and marriage.

Although many admit that homosexual marriages harm no one, this statement is completely false. Homosexual marriages have numerous harmful effects on children raised in their household as stated earlier, not only do the abovementioned pressures apply, but children raised in this environment would have a higher possibility of choosing the lifestyle like there parents. Their parents are seen as being normal and looked up to as role models, assurance their lifestyle being accepted by their children. Statistics show that 45% of gay males, and 20% of lesbians experience physical or verbal assault
