tructure or the family’s personal life a certain word comes to mind-Domesticity. Domesticity goes into more depth about the family, the problems or the solutions the family has toward different issues in the family life. Domesticity shows us the family as people outside the family never get to see it and therefore it gives us a better insight into how families operate.

Acts of abuse in the family, between spouses or between spouse and offspring are all shown through domesticity. Acts of roles in the house, being the husband is the care takes and the wife the care giver can all be shown through domesticity. In the case of abuse in the house, it may be acceptable in the husband’s or wife’s culture and therefore they might see nothing wrong with it; or could be as a result of early childhood abuse by the husband or wife which they have carried with them into their adulthood, but what ever the case domesticity enables us to see the abuse in the family’s environment, as opposed to looking at the family as a whole
