As a child grows, we hear many “I can’t wait until…” statements. They cannot wait to go to school; then they cannot wait for summer. They cannot wait until Christmas or their next birthday. One of the most exciting moments is when a child reaches driving age. The ability to drive is one of the most anticipated moments in a person’s life. That is until we get on the road and face the obstacles of getting to where we want to go. There are plenty of things to concentrate on while driving. Watching for changing lights and other cars changing lanes is tricky when you are first learning to drive. The problem occurs when we get too confident in our own ability to control our vehicles. We begin to get careless and are not as concerned with keeping our eyes on the road and both hands on the wheel. Many of today’s drivers have dangerous habits, which include general carelessness, distractions with the radio, and cell phone use.
