Sense and Senseibilty
The novel Sense and Sensibility is about love and family and above all about being sensible when making decisions. The story revolves around two sisters and the choices they make concerning their love lives and each other. The story starts with the death of an old gentleman whose money is dispersed to various members of his family. One of the main recipients was Mr. John Dashwood, who had the duty of providing for his mother-in-law and sisters. His wife is greedy, epically for the well-being of their son and convinces her husband to give as little as possible. When the gentleman died, and I think he was Mr. John Dashwoods’s brother, he left the house to Mr. Dashwood, and as soon as she could his wife moved in. His wife was cold to Mr. Dashwood’s mother-in-law and sisters and although they had lived there before her, she reduced their status to mere visitors. This shows a major flaw in her character, because one she does not even want to provide anymore than is absolutely necessary for the well being of Mr.
