James Douglass Morrison
James Douglas Morrison was born in Florida, on December 8, 1943. He is best known as the lead singer of the 60’s rock band, The Doors. Jim is also a poet, writer, and filmmaker. During his career with The Doors, he and the other band members recorded seven albums. (Nite, 1990) During that time he made a name for himself. He became well known throughout North America and Europe. Aside from Jim’s career as a performer, writing was his life. He left his fans with over 1500 poems, stories, and lyrics. (Hopkins, 1995) He has also written books and produced movies. Although his life was very crazy, with many ups and downs, his fans will cherish Jim’s poetry and music for many decades to come. Although Jim was a brilliant writer, he had one major downfall that essentially ended his life at 37 years old-drugs and alcohol. These drugs were readily available to him. Jim had a serious drinking problem. He was often drunk during his performances causing him to act foolish. Along with the drug abuse, he repeatedly defied authority figures.
