The Nature of war

War is part of God's world-order. Within it unfold the noblest virtues of men, courage, and renunciation, loyalty to duty and readiness for sacrifice, at the hazard of one's life. War, plain and simple is an evil act, even though in some cases in may help a nation out, it should just be stopped. The pieces of literature that we were given in class all represent a time of struggle and warfare. The authors of these pieces give views and ideas expressed during the Vietnam War.

The object of war is to impose our will on the enemy, to do such we use the means of maximum available force, with the aim of rendering him powerless. Most reasons why leaders start wars are because something bad was done to them by another country, either by accidental or on purpose. Also they may just want more land and more people to put under his/her control.

War, this evil act does many things to people, also it creates many terrible things. War creates hatred between the two enemies or more if more nations are involved in the battle, this hatred can go on for a long period of time. It may also never be reconciled. War can also cause governments to be overthrown, shortages, it could hurt the economy, and innocent people can

“Song of Napalm” written by Bruce Wiegl was a poem that explains how different kinds of people from different kinds of backgrounds can view situations differently. For example one person may think a situation is terrible while another may think it’s magnificent.

The short part of Forrest Gump the movie that we saw in class was extraordinarily interesting. It showed to me how all these things come about from war and also it showed a mans love and loyalty to his platoon. Gump who is a soldier in the army rescued all or most of his platoon from heavy attack from the Vietnamese. That was very brave of Gump and he received the Medal of Honor for that.

In the book Going After Cacciato by Tim O'Brien, we learn of Cacciato struggles to escape the war, and how it affects the lives of all others involved. Cacciato who the book mostly focuses around leaves his platoon to go to Paris, France. Him and his platoon were in Vietnam, he wants to go to Paris so he can live his life without war. Tim O’Brien is a very interesting writer he expresses many views and ideas of his own, its hard to tell if its fiction or reality. He writes in very extreme detail, it makes you seem as you yourself is there going right along with the platoon. This novel brings up many questions, such as how do you know what is right from what is wrong. One man may think his way is right, and your way is wrong. But you think your way is right and the other man’s is wron
