Movie Review on Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)
In recent years, I've come to regard the slasher film as comedy rather than horror. The rancid dialogue, cheap attempts at thrills, flimsy story, and stock characters have become mostly tiresome and cliche. But now, it seems Hollywood has finally found a way to resurrect the slasher film...by remaking it! And while the new version of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" isn't quite the classic the original is, it is still a solid, terrifying horror film. It's simple, it's short, and it's amazingly effective. The producers of the remade "Chainsaw" brought back the original film's cinematographer, Daniel Pearl, and teamed him up with first-time feature film director Marcus Nispel, who has a strong background in music videos.
