Communication: John Kerry
Communication Senator John Forbes Kerry is running for Democratic nomination in the 2004 presidential race. Kerry is running against many other Democrats for nomination, and if selected, will run against the Republican candidate, George W. Bush. All of the candidates are concerned with many of the same issues, but each has their own opinions and ideals on each of these issues. “I’m running for President to make the country we love safer, stronger, and more secure. I’m asking every American to be a citizen soldier again committed to leaving no American behind.” This slogan helps many citizens to see the big picture of what Senator Kerry wants to do as President. In John Kerry’s Iowa and New Hampshire campaigns, he is stressing four major themes: electability, national security, health care, and tax cuts. Along with these four main themes, Kerry has a “First 100 Days – Complete Action Plan.” “…I want to lay out some of what I’ll do in the first hundred days of a Kerry Administration to make the Real Deal a reality. In the weeks ahead, I’m going to lay out an Action Plan for the First 100 Days. The specific steps will take
to change American – the steps I will fight for in the early days of a Kerry Presidency…” – John Kerry As stated earlier, Senator Kerry is stressing four themes in his campaigns: electability, national security, health care, and tax cuts. Democrats in Iowa placed the candidates' abilities to challenge President Bush above other considerations. In Kerry’s campaign, he argues that he is best suited to challenge George W. Bush because of his war-hero background and long experience in the U.S. Senate. Finally, Senator Kerry emphasizes tax cuts in his current campaigns. John Kerry will create a new "State Tax Relief and Education Fund" that will help states so they don’t have to make cuts that hurt our economy. This fund will stop the education cuts, tuition increases and tax and fee raising that are causing layoffs. This fund includes $5 billion to stop state cuts in health care and $5 billion for homeland security to stop layoffs of police officers and fire fighters. Kerry also plans to give additional money to states by fully funding the No Child Left Behind education law and special education. Kerry believes that we should keep the middle class tax cuts that Democrats fought for in 2001 and 2003, and give more tax breaks to the middle-class with new tax credits
