The Road To Success

What is the likelihood of getting into an Ivy League school? What would increase your chances? There used to be no greater importance in American higher education than to go to an Ivy League college or university. Unfortunately, there are some major challenges involved in applying to these schools due to the tremendous competition from other exceptional students applying from all over the world. What do you think of a school that rejects the majority of students who apply with a perfect SAT score? What do you think of a university that rejects more than 20,000 students every year? Although there are these increasingly overbearing statistics, parents still push for an Ivy League or other big name school. Evidently, it is time for students to educate themselves and their parents on what extremely competitive means in higher education today. A great education is offered at hundreds of schools, but only some attract this level of attention. Remember, your grades from high school go with you to college, therefore as a student, you wouldn’t want to screw something like this up.

Colleges and Universities offer advanced study after high school or junior college in a variety of fields. However, Ivy League schools have a more advanced curriculum. As John Naisbitt, a futurist said, “The most important skill to acquire now is learning how to learn.” “By using strategy and innovation students can gain admission to competitive colleges and universities where they will achieve their full intellectual and human potential,” as said at http://www.ivysuccess.com/. Every year, multiple tens of thousands of highly qualified and not-so-qualified applicants knock at the admission doors of these eight great schools. However, you must have something to offer the school, for example the Ivy League schools like to see inimitable, unique people, which helps diversify the school.

I'm sure that you're aware of how competitive schools like these are. Never forget that you must be constantly aware of the sometimes-illogical nature of college admittance. By reading the discussion forums posted in College Confidential about the students who are rejected from their first-choice schools for no apparent reason, it makes you give up all hope of getting in. I mention this only to emphasize the point that, in most cases with the top schools, and especially the Ivy League, there is no such thing as a "sure thing" when it comes to getting in. Just keep a realistic viewpoint and remember the Ivy League admissions phase is not an easy one.

Last year was the toughest year ever for elite college admissions. Many
