Can PE make kids fitter and is it effective? This is a question that people in the field of physical activity are always asking. The answer to this question depends on who you ask; some would say that it develops gain attention to physical activity and exercise. Other people would say that it is a waste of time and doesn’t give any thing back to the school in the academic aspect. I would say that PE is something that all schools should make mandatory and that it is very effective. That it is actually effective in helping students get healthier. And the amount of PE is actually a huge factor in the physical activity. The first issue is whether or not PE is effective in schools. I think that PE is very effective in schools. First off, it gives the students a time to relax and have a little bit of fun. Although there could be a small quiz or test in PE, the students don’t get too worried about it because PE is something that they will normally pay attention to. Students will absorb more information in PE because there are constant visual aids. According to Mission Magazine, the eyes record over 75 percent of all impressions. mandates for elementary PE ranged from 50 to 200 minutes a week. The mandates for middle school PE ranged from 55 to 275 minutes per week. Most high school students take PE for only 1 year, and 42 states allow high school students to opt out of PE for medical or religious reasons and to substitute varsity athletics, ROTC, or marching band for PE. (2) The NASPE recommends that elementary school children should receive at least 150 minutes of PE per week and that middle and high school students should receive at least 225 minutes a week. If it is mandatory for students to attend PE during school and participate, then they should receive a grade that goes towards their GPA.
