Of mice and men character essay

Lennie Small is big but not the brightest person in the world. Actually he is not bright at all. Lennie has the mind of about a six or seven year old. He enjoys feeling soft and smooth things. The only thing about that is it gets him deeply in trouble throughout the story. He gets a job on a farm because his strength is real impressive. Lennie’s hands are a symbol in the book. Any thing that touches his hands are either destroyed or broken. For example he gets in a fight with Curley and he ends up breaking his hand. Lenny is a bad luck. He could not avoid getting in trouble even if he tried. He ends up getting in big trouble with Curley because he kills his wife. After that almost the whole ranch was after him. Lennie’s best friend is George. He likes George a lot. Whatever George says Lennie will listen to him. He is real protective over George. He doesn’t want anything bad to happen to George. One time the stable-buck was playing around with Lennie and told him George was never going to come back. Lennnie got mad and said that nothing bad has happened to George and was yelling who hurt George. Lennie has a pattern that he goes through and it is real simple. He will do something bad then he will

Candy is an elder person. He only has one hand. It is sad boss considers him useless. Candy has a dog that was one a good sheepherder. But now it is old and it stinks. Carlson tells Candy that he should put the dog out of its misery and shoot him. Candy couldn’t do it so Carlson shot the dog for him. After that Candy felt bad because he felt like it was his responsibility and he should of shot the dog. Candy wanted to go with Lennie and George to their farm when they get it. He said that he would work for free if they let him live rent-free. Lennie said ok but when George got there he forgot to tell him so Candy said that he doesn’t want to go any more because he was sad that they forgot about him.

Curly’s wife is a tart. She works at a flophouse and like to flirt with a lot of men. She does not really like Curly (her husband). She kind of likes Lennie for hurting her husband until she finds out how dumb Lennie is. She is disliked by a lot of people at the farm because she brings nothing but trouble. She ends up meeting Lennie in the barn alone. She tries to make him touch her but he won’t because he listened to George. But when she says feel my hair it is soft he falls for it. You kind of got an idea of what happens when Lennie starts petting soft things. Yes, Lennie ends up killing Curley’s wife like all of the other things he petted.
