             Being thin and healthy looking these days is a very important issue with Americans. One would think if obese Americans cared so much about losing the weight they have, that they wouldn't have gained itin the first place. .
             To lose weight, there are many different options, for example: exericise, medication, surgery, and diets. Although diet and exercise is the most effective awy to stay healthy and lose weight, people seem to be too lazy to do both, so they just diet. .
             The question is, what diet is the most effective and healthy? Doctors say that low carbohydrate diets are the best way to lose weight. "What about the low fat diets?" you ask. Scientists have reseached that in the low fat foods they are adding sugar and carbohydrates. With low carb, you are told to eat fat butter, cheese, eggs, meat, and that low fat, high carb foods are the culprits in the battle of obesity. There have been reports of lower glucose, lower cholesterol, renewed energy and vitality, lack of food cravings and lack of hunger when on a low carb diet.

             The Atkins diet is one of the popular low carb diets that is proven to wor, but the problem with this diet is it is a high-fat, low carb diet. Fats are still being consumed and that is not a completely healthy way to diet. Atkins claims that consuming high fat is only bad when consumed with excessive carbohydrates.
             "Carbohydrates break down in the body as sugars. These sugars are regulated by a hormone called insulin. When carbohydrates are consumed excessively, the body's insulin level rises to control the amount of sugar in the blood. The insulin converts the sugar to fat so it can be used as fuel.
