Writing Competition

It was just a typical Friday night. He had just gotten into his apartment and his phone was already ringing with intent to fill his night with mischief and unforgettable experiences. The first to call was a boy by the name of Alex. He was a portly character with great insight into all aspects of life. It is quite pitiful, for Alex had dropped out of school at the age of 16. Such a great mind gone to waste, but what is to come of Alex is unknown to all except to Alex himself. The next caller was a rather humorous friend by the name of Chadwick, but everyone called him Doyle for no particular reason. Plans had begun to take shape. He was to pick up Alex and Doyle, and meet the rest of his group at a local fast food restaurant.

Miles was 18 at the time, a freshman attending a local community college. He finally realized which road he was on. The same road in which his parents had died less than a year ago. He made himself snap out of it and come back to this surreal reality he was experiencing.

When the four finally reached the party, everyone got out of the car and went inside. Miles had to sit down, for his head began to pulsate and he began to see strange colors. The sounds he would hear began to startle and scare him. Miles finally realized what was different about his drink. The man that was riding with them must have put something in it. Ever so slightly, Miles began to float until the forces of gravity no longer affected him. He floated into the kitchen, where his friends were partaking in an alcoholic game. Soon, they were throwing their heads back and literally pouring alcohol down their throats. Miles ventured out onto the deck, where even more people were smoking. Most just had cigarettes, but there were a few with a certain intent in their eyes. He knew exactly what they were going to do, but he wasn't about to sa
