Rudolph Valentino

Rudolph Valentino, a man that many people in our generation have never even heard of, lived a life where he accomplished many goals and became a very well known actor for his work in movies in the early 1900's. Rodolfo Alfonzo Raffaelo Pierre Filibert Guglielmi di Valentina D'Antonguolla was born in Castellaneta, Italy May 6, 1895. His parents' names were Giovanni and Beatrice Guglielmi and he also had an older brother named Alberto and a younger sister named Maria.

In 1905, when Rudolph was eleven, his father Giovanni passed away and in 1908, at the age of thirteen began to attend military school, which he finished at the age of 15. After attending military school, Valentino's mother urged him to apply to the naval academy so he could learn some more about discipline, but after he applied Rudolph failed the physical examination and was left being very crushed that he wasn't able to attend the academy. The one good thing that came from this was that after failing the test Valentino spent the rest of his life trying to stay very fit and did the same physical exercises everyday so as not to seem weak.

In 1913 Valentino left Italy and sailed to New York City where he arrived on December 23, however once Valentin

Roughly 10,000 people lined up in the streets to see Valentino’s body and some were even crushed and killed by the constant rioting of people waiting to see him. Rudolph Valentino was a great actor loved by nearly everyone who had ever seen him. He lived a very short life but accomplished so much that he is still remembered today.

In 1925 the production of The Hooded Falcon was stopped. Then on March 9 Valentino signed a contract that made him his own producer when he joined Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks at Untied Artists. Valentino did two more movies that year called What Price Beauty and The Eagle. Natacha was very angry that Valentino signed up at United Artists and when their new home and estate were finally built she refused to go there and went to New York, separating from Valentino leaving him heartbroken. And then on November 10 Valentino applied for US Citizenship.

In 1921 Valentino continued his career as a well-known movie star, Rudolph filmed four more movies that year with his most well known ones being Camille and the Shriek. While Valentino was further building up his relationship the Natacha, Jean Acker finally decided to file for divorce to completely end her marriage with Valentino. On March 4, 1922 the divorce between Acker and Valentino was final, Acker received a one-time alimony payment of 12,000 dollars.
