I must point out that while I agree with many of the laws against victimless crimes I do not agree with them all. A few of the laws I will justify are drug prohibition, alcohol and tobacco prohibition, and nudity prohibition.

Drug prohibition is for the welfare of society as a whole. I can speak from experience on drug use and abuse. After prolonged drug uses of any kind the user is going to become addicted. Addiction causes people to go to any length to get there drug of chooses. Drugs are not cheap. People lie, steal, and manipulate. They sell there children’s toys and rob from there piggy banks. Victimless crimes may not show any immediate victim but over time society as a whole is the victim. Many of these law help maintain the values of our society. Society’s welfare must come before the individuals. Because without society welfare our first priority we would not have individual rights.

Drugs also cause deterioration of the brain. Chronic LSD use leads to sciz-affective disorder. It burns out the part of the brain which enables one to be a law abiding citizen. Narcotic abuse can lead to abscesses in skin, lungs, and brain, infection of the heart valves, pneumonia, liver dysfunction, seizures. How can a citizen fulfill there obligations to society if they are unable to function. Stimulants such as amphetamines and cocaine tend to lead to paranoid schizophrenia. Paranoid schizophrenics are frequently committed or at least hospitalized because they’re an unpredictable physical threat to other people.

At the ages of around twelve children start to go throw puberty. It’s a very awkward time for children. Many feel like they don’t fit in so they turn to substance that will relieve this discomfort.
