When it came to politics, the immigrants weren’t very skilled. They didn’t know the much of the reform aspirations of the American Progressives, and the loyalty of voters to the bosses indicated why local reform victories were so short lived. Plus since the government was so hands on, and because no body liked them, they had a reason to not be eager to express their right to vote, whatever right that was.
