Albinism is a genetic disorder when there is little or no melanin pigment in the skin, hair, or eyes. Melanin is the pigment in skin hair and eyes. The word albinism comes from the Latin word albus, which means white, or without color. There are two kinds of albinism, oculocutaneous albinism and ocular albinism. Oculocutaneous albinism is when both the skin and eyes and ocular albinism is mostly the eyes.
