The United States and Pacific relations have been sustained at a steady pace of no change over the past decades. The U.S. has made sure to specifically keep Taiwan and China from any change. Even though Taiwan wants to be its own separate country, the U.S. has to make sure to keep China happy by not allowing that to happen. The United States and North Korea have been the longest standing adversary’s . Recent steps to keep North Korea’s WMD under control have been difficult. From 1994, when North Korea agreed to dismantle its nuclear program with the U.S. in return supplying them with 5 billion dollars worth of fuel oil. Along with this the United States, Japan, and South Korea agreed to build two light-water nuclear reactors, which cannot be used to make plutonium. Only four years after the nuclear accord was the suspecting of North Korea again developing a new nuclear facility.
