War on Iraq

For the past two years the United States have been a fighting a war against Iraq. We have captured those who had plotted and planned the original attack on our country and their leaders. Over the years the support provided by the nation has decreased. People are realizing how taxing the war has been on our country. We have lost fathers, brothers, and sons. Now our leader wants eighty seven billion dollars to continue. The war should not be supported. Not only are we fighting the people who attacked us, but we are also fighting the battles for other countries. The war needs to stop, people need their families intact, and we need to open our eyes and realize how far this has gone.

When President George Bush declared war on Iraq the people of this country were behind him. We hung flags outside our doors, wore yellow ribbons on our cars, we even plastered them on our trees in our towns. The country unified to show our support and strength for those overseas, thus showing our support for the war. As the time has gone by the flags are less frequent, as are the ribbons. There are fewer rallies to show our support. Although the people in office are trying to make what has happened sound justified and reasonable some peo

What makes this ordeal that much worse is the fact that we are still fighting. If another country or organization attacks something that might cause a backlash, we are there to fight it. What may be going on is unfair, but it is not our battle to fight. We fight for people who have never helped us before, never supported us. We fight because it is said that it will prevent another tragedy. So basically what is being said is that we will fight anyone if there is a chance they will do the same to us. A person can even look at it as if we are fighting to stop fighting. Do we not scold children for doing the same thing. Do we not tell them that fighting will get you nowhere? Not only are we drudging up a sense of irony, but we are also causing ourselves to live in fear and sending out and possible losing more of our citizens to help in this fight. But it is “justified” because it is preventing possible future attacks. “They will be hurt and pay a price they will never imagine. They can get much more from Iraq without resorting to the logic of force and war,” warns Saddam Hussein’s son, Uday. Why not take the threat to heart and try that? If we can not find that to be warning enough how about Vladamir Putin
