First Born

I remember the night like it was yesterday. The rain was coming down heavily, which was perfect, being April. I was lying in a hospital bed and had been since six that evening. The nurse was floating in and out every so often to check on me. Nothing was changing much, except that I was getting very fatigued as I watched the clock tick, tick, tick. I was watching television to help pass the time, while my husband, my sister, my father and stepmother carried on their conversations. Around midnight a specialized doctor came in to give me a shot that would hopefully ease my pain, but I wasn't too convinced. He was a very irritable man, which I later learned was because he had been asleep when the nurse called him in. Lucky for me, that didn't affect how he performed his job that night. I received the shot and went back to just lying in bed with not a whole lot to do. Everyone was trying to rest his or her eyes and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't fall asleep. I was starting to worry about my progression since the morning was creeping up and nothing had changed. As the early morning approached, it seemed like more and more doctors were passing through to check on me. They were becoming very nervous and I could tell. Since I wasn't making progress like I should have been, I was told I would be scheduled for surgery. That was my worst fear through all of this and now it would be coming true. But just when I was mentally prepared for it, something changed. The nurse told me that I had progressed rapidly and it was time to give birth to my precious daughter who would forever change my life. .
             Revised Paragraph.
There are a few times in a person's life that make them a completely new individual and give them a fresh perspective on life. For me, that time came on April 17th at 12:34 p.m. when Hailey was born. She was beautiful, healthy and weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces, which was big considering both my husband and I were average, built.
