Beowulf

The epic poem “Beowulf” describes the most heroic man of the Anglo-Saxon times. The hero of the poem, Beowulf, is portrayed as an invincible warrior with all the amazing, non-human like traits required by an Anglo-Saxon hero. He is able to use his phenomenal physical strength and courage to defend and put his people before himself at all times. He encounters monsters and fierce beasts but never fears death while fighting them. He is loyal to his Lord and shows very strong and powerful leadership skills. Beowulf is the perfect Anglo-Saxon epic hero who displays courage, bravery, and strength during his battles against evil.

Beowulf’s heroism can be seen when he takes fourteen of the bravest men in his land to go help Hrothgar. Hrothgar was Beowulf’s father’s close friend who had been plagued by Grendal’s attacks for twelve years that threatened the entire kingdom of Danes.
