Characteristics of a Middle Schooler

Have you ever wondered what the characteristics of a middle schooler’s personality might be? The middle school years include students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grade. This essay will categorize the three levels of students in their middle school years according to some of their typical, observed behaviors.

Sixth graders, the first-year class of a middle school, must make many adjustments to being in a new school. They have many characteristics and personality traits that are different from the other middle schoolers.

First of all, sixth graders can be obnoxious, hyper and annoying. They like to give each other wet willies, toot on each other, and chase each other around in circles.

Secondly, when students enter the sixth grade, they suddenly think that in order to survive, they have to look “cool”. The girls suddenly think that they need to put on gobs of make-up to look pretty, while the boys must think that they have a body odor problem because they wear way too much cologne.

While some may have liked it, others may have hated it. Since that time in their lives, most people’s personalities have changed, and all they can do now is look back and remember. Most of them are glad that this is true.

But the personalities of sixth and seventh graders cannot even come close to the personality of any eighth grader.

Secondly, some eighth graders think that because it is their last year, they automatically act more mature without making the effort of actually being more mature. In some cases they do grow up, but some eighth graders take advantage of the situation and act like total menaces such as throwing things, tripping people, or screaming at the top of their lungs. Ironically, these eighth graders could now be placed in the same category as the sixth graders.
