Alternative rock and rock music are pretty close in guitar sounds when playing, so using them both in one example will work. These musicians use electric guitar and/or acoustics, and generally play them pretty loud. These types of music rely heavily on their guitar riffs because they do stick out so much in their songs. It’s almost as if the band doesn’t care if the audience can hear their voice, they just want you to get into their music. For these groups it seems the louder, faster, and harder you play earns you a spot at the top of the rock list. Rock is known for fast beginning, its middle song cool down, and the end solo to go out on. Rock musicians play from the easiest chords to the most difficult scales; this is what makes their music so unique. They can make metal fans turn their heads at one point in the song and the next thing heard can turn the heads of others who listen to light music. Throughout their songs they use what I described earlier as diversity, not playing the same riffs over and over. Rock musicians made the guitar popular many years ago, and still today they carry out their legacy of keeping the guitar primary in rock music.

Music does not always need lyrics either. Many guitarists have made livings for just putting their soul into their guitar, and that’s all they need. Jimi Hendrix sang, not too well, but everyone knows that Jimi was one of the best guitar players ever to live. Stevie Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Joe Satriani are just some of today’s great guitar players who speak with their guitar and not their voice. These guys use the electric and create sounds they may seem impossible to some through their use of effects within the guitar.
