Short da vinci bio On April 15, 1452 Leonardo Da Vinci was born in the Tuscan town of Vinci. He was the illigitame son of a Wealth Florentine notary. In the mid-1460's his family settled in Florence, which was the intellectual capital of Italy at the time. He was given a good education and in 1466 he was apprenticed to Andrea del Verrocchio, a leading painter n sculptor of his day. He began working on many paintings and large sculpture projects. In 1478 he left from the side of Verrochio and became an independent master.
