This paper discusses the United States (U.S.) foreign policy, the events that led to the U.S. embargo against Cuba and it will then address the following issues: should this embargo against Cuba be lifted or remain in place, my personal views regarding the embargo and finally my position on the policy as it relates to Cuba

The U.S. policy toward Cuba is the same for other countries around the world. Which include the following countries: China, Brazil, Peru and Kosovo. There are three pillars of U.S. policy. The first pillar represents the promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law. The Second represents the promotion of open economic and communication systems. The last pillar represents and symbolizes reduction of global scourges to the environment of disease, terrorism, and crime around the world. Violations of one or more of these policies can lead to economic and political sanctions.

In conclusion, this paper discussed the U.S. foreign policy; the events that led to the U.S. Embargo against Cuba and it addressed weather the embargo against Cuba should be lifted and my personal views regarding this embargo, my personal views regarding this embargo. Finally, my position on the policy as it relates to Cuba. To this day, the saga continues in Cuba. Politicians constantly debate the need to remove the embargo. The U.S. remains sympathetic towards the Cuban people, while trying to remove the dictator from power. Changing times have caused the U.S. to reevaluate policy but not to change its stand on democracy.

Tensions between the two governments and continued to grow of the next thirty years, but peaked during the October 1962 Cuban missile crisis. Tensions remained high throughout the 1970s and 1980s as Cuba expanded its military presence abroad. Castro spent millions of dollars in exporting revolutions and in support of the Soviet Government. Cuban also forces played a key role in Ethiopia's war against Somalia where they maintained a large garrison force for a decade. In addition, Cuba served in a non-combat advisory role in Mozambique and the Congo. In exchange, they used the Congo as a logistical support center for Cuba's Angola mission.

Over the years, Cuba attempts to promote opposition to U.S. foreign policy, challenging the U.S. trade embargo and the 1996 Liberated Act. Cuba focus is to find new sources of trade, aid, and foreign investment. Cuba has developed relations with over 160 countries and has civilian assistance workers principally medical in more than 20 nations (CUBA).
