The film Triumph of the Will has got to be one of the biggest propaganda films of all time. I feel that Leni Riefenstahl was working for Hitler helping him advertise to make him become more powerful. All throughout the film, Leni only showed people being happy. She showed how all the children in the Hitler youth waiting for him in large crowds. She always showed him as if he were coming from high above, out of the clouds. This was shown the time where all the people were standing around waiting for his arrival and he flew in on a plane, like he were a god coming from the sky. Hitler was always shown traveling through people as they were always saluting him and very happy, cheering at his arrival. Propaganda is a way to manipulate people’s beliefs and attitudes toward something. I feel that Leni Riefenstahl selected certain images to put in the film, to make the film have a persuasive effect on the people watching it. Films are one of the most powerful ways to get large amounts of people to believe what he wanted them to by making it entertaining. This film made Nazism look as if it was a good thing, by showing only the good points and not any of the negative points. Never showing any of the horrors
All throughout the film, it showed the good times. It never mentioned much about the Jews. I feel that she was trying to help Hitler cover this up and make him look like a better person than he actually was. I only heard one time during the whole film, one of the speakers using a racist line. One of the speakers said something to the effect of the master race is the only race. This was referring to the Jews being less than the rest of the Germans. This was the only time I saw that she let something about them being racist slip out. This proves that they were thinking about the master race, but people were just too blind to see it. All the other speakers all talked about being patriotic to their country and how they should keep it pure. This was a film during the time of the depression. It showed all the boys of the Hitler youth at their camps. They were all making food and eating. It never showed times where they were not having fun, or times where they were having food shortages. She also showed how they had games and activities, which made it seem as if all the people who follow Hitler always have a good time and nothing bad could happen to them. that would happen to all the people not in the master race, this film was very misleading for its viewers. I feel that most of the people in the Hitler youth didn’t even know what he was doing with all the Jews, as if this was all kept secret from everyone. It was never shown during the whole film about them taking them to the conservation camps, nor
