Offred went through many hardships and lost many things in her life. One of Offred’s biggest suffers was when she was forced to give up her only child to live with another family. When they took Offred’s child, she couldn’t do anything about it. Offred was forced to have sex with her commander whenever he wanted. Aunt Lydia said, “Men are sex machines, and not much more. They only want one thing.” That was true in this case. Many of the handmaids couldn’t handle it and they were killed because they broke the law of a handmaid.
