Marriage

Marriage could be a bad thing or a wonderful thing; it just depends on the person. Deciding to be with the same person for the rest of your life would be a major decision, and one would definitely have to know the person for a long time. It is confusing to see how many people could just simply marry each other after knowing each other a mere few weeks. I have been in some really long relationships and I have had to end them because they were too long. I always fall into the trap of being too bored or I simply do not like the person that much any more. When being around the same person all the time the romance kind of dies out and all that's left behind is a really good friendship. Therefore, when the time comes in my life when I want to settle down and have something stable I will be extremely careful on who I will end up with because the last thing I want is to be another number in the divorce statistics.
The Webster's dictionary definition for marriage is the legal union of a man and woman as husband and wife, or the state of being married; wedlock. This definition makes it sound more like a death sentence than being with the person you truly love. Through my short life, the only two marriages I have seen last are my grandparents and my parents. My parents I would imagine are together because of many reasons. The first reason is because of their children; the second reason because they chose to be together, and the third because after being married for so many years, people grow accustom to each other. Marriage is complicated. Marriage takes a lot more than anyone could ever imagine, and much more than just love is needed, even for just a regular relationship. I think you have to at least like to be around the same person all the time for the marriage to last. Once someone becomes annoyed all the time with the person there with, it is like a countdown to disaster. .
