In the novel After the First Death by Robert Cormier there are number of important moral issues. In this essay I have to write what are the moral issues and how are they treated or resolved in the novel. What is our position and opinion as the reader on the issues?
The first moral issue in the novel is patriotism in the dictionary patriotism is defined as love of country and willingness to sacrifice for it. In this novel there are many of patriotism involved for example Miro he will sacrifice his life for his country. In this novel Miro is one of the terrorist that try to free his country.
Another example is brigadier General Marchand he sacrifice his son’s life only for his country. He thinks it’s the right thing to send his child as the messenger when
The last issue is courage. Courage is define as the state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution; bravery. In this story there is courage involved. For example when Kate tries to drive off from the bridge but she failed. That need courage she knows she will die if she got caught but she did it anyway. And another example is when Ben send the message to Artkin without courage he wont do it.
Terrorist can be call patriots because some terrorist do not do what they want for money or fame they do it for their country. We call them terrorist because they hijack stuffs. And they hurt people.
