Proposed Automated Order Entry System
Company XYZ has observed a decrease in sales revenue. After several investigations and analysis of the results, it was determined that the Order Entry department is the most responsible for the sales lag. It was determined that using a manual order entry process for the increasing volume of orders is not conducive to the company’s growth rate. The goal of this proposal is to persuade management to fund a project that would convert the order entry system from manual to full automation. Accomplishing full automation will result in minimizing entry errors, achieve quicker order entry and reduce overhead. The statistical information gathered also suggests that automating the order entry system could impact sales favorably. Team B has been organized to research the market for a favorable automated order entry system and to use the SDLC process for the integration of that process within the company’s infrastructure. Company XYZ is determined to execute a comprehensive business plan to maximize long-term results. Since many means of order entry are available, the system needs to be easily adaptable to accept orders from various sources and transaction types. Some of these alternate means of order transfer would help reduce the errors created by human inaccuracies. 3. Conduct damage control – during the transition phase, sales will communicate customer complaints regarding system problems and order inaccuracies, missed deadlines, etc. so Team B may correct and improve as they go along. July 31, 2003 and run every day until August 6, 2003. By August 15, 2003, the Team will decide which of the systems should be the primary selection of the company, and which system could be a back-up system if the company is not able to afford their first choice. The next step would be to request an assessment of Company XYZ by the selected companies, and review their business proposals and offers. They would then install the system, train our personnel in the use of the system, and provide back-up support in case of problems. New time trials will then be conducted in December 2003, to demonstrate how the system has improved the company’s ability to serve their customers.
