John lennon

“Imagine all the people living in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one, I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.”

John Lennon is a figure in history that will never be forgotten. He started the band The Beatles, who changed the course of music forever. Not only is he a world renowned musician, he is also noted for his famous “Bed-In” for peace, and other nonviolent protests ‘against all the suffering and violence in the world.’

Lennon was born in 1940 in Liverpool, England to Julia and Freddie Lennon. His father left him when he was six years old, not returning for another twenty years. He grew up in his aunt’s house, but had a strong relationship with his mother. She taught him how to play the banjo, and soon after, he began to learn the guitar. When John was eighteen years old, his mother was killed by a car, driven by an intoxicated off-duty policeman. In late 1960, he started the group, The Beatles. The members included himself, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They started their band in Bri

In June of 1969, Lennon and his wife, Yoko, checked into The Queen Elizabeth Hotel in Montreal for seven days and seven nights to stage another “Bed-In.” This time, they invited the press to present their ideas and beliefs to the public. “It’s a campaign that will sustain until peace comes. We want to get them all indoctrinated with peace.” The whole effect of the bed-ins was to make people talk about peace, which is the first step of reaching their goal. “We’re trying to interest young people in doing something about peace. But it must be done by non-violent means, otherwise there can be chaos.”

The concept of Bagism is also another idea that Lennon and Yoko came up with. “Bagism is the place for fans of John Lennon and The Beatles to come together and learn, educate, and have fun. It is an interactive site meaning that you will have to be an active participant rather than just being a passive observer. The underlying concept of John and Yoko’s ‘bagism’ idea is interactivity among people without prejudice. The internet is a great place to achieve that ideal because one is judged only by your words- not by your looks, age, gender, ethnicity, etc.”

Soon, Lennon began to experiment with LSD and became engrossed in the art world. In
