Brownfield Redevelopment
Growing up in an area with so many abandoned steel mills, and other such contaminated sites (brownfields), developing such sites is complicated and very trying, but it brings hope for a community and its economy. Brownfields are everywhere in the US, they used to be the capital industry sites of this country like steel mills and rail yards, but like with everything else, their time came to pass. These sites are now rundown, dilapidated, and often extremely contaminated, and because these sites used to be the center of jobs for many of the communities that they are in, many of those communities never regained themselves economically because of the jobs that were lost. These areas are now usually poverty stricken which is why the US and many support groups are now trying to redevelop these sites and revive these communities.
