Two Games Anight

When the school and athletic board meet at the beginning of the school year they decided that the men and women basketball teams should play on the same night and in the same gym (Region 8 and 10). This is the most ridiculous thing to happen to the athletic programs since they began. In doing this they were trying to save time and money for the school and maybe even make some extra. People could go and watch a night full of basketball for the same price and see all the games they wanted.

In many different ways this was the worst thing that could have happened to the boys basketball program for our school. I mean sure people go and watch the girl’s games, but honestly, at least three times as many people go to the guy’s games. This hurts our program in a couple of ways. In the combing of the games it might have saved a small amount of money for the school, but it also created many other problems. For instance the two schools that voted against this in our region were Emery and Delta. Which in every way shape and form were the most prepared schools to do this. In the other three locations there aren’t enough gyms, locker rooms, or rest rooms for this to be a good thing. The freshmen boys and girls don’t play in the same building as the rest of the grades and in most towns they are at least five miles away. For example when a team goes to play North Sanpete the freshmen will play in Moroni which is about fifteen miles away from where the rest of their teams will play. This is a major inconvenience for many people.
