Society has enough problems of its own to deal with. Crime rates are high enough with adult criminals and now young offenders have added to the rate. It is not fair that society and the public should have to carry the weight and financial costs in dealing with these delinquents. A bond between a parent and a child is a very important part of building a secure future for that child. The type of relationship a child will have with his or her parents will usually affect the type of relationships they will have later on in life. If a child has a poor relationship in which the parents do not encourage or attempt to build a feeling of security for that child, chances are they will have a string of poor, unsatisfactory relationships throughout his or her life. “These early bonds probably constitute the basis for later relationships and the child who has failed to make secure relationships in early childhood is likely to be at a considerably social disadvantage when he is older.”

Parents are also responsible for providing a secure and safe home where a child can develop emotionally and physically without fear of being hurt or abandoned. The child cannot control the environment they grow up in, it is up to the parents to control and create it.

Parents need to be responsible and careful around their children. They need to realize that someone is always watching and copying them. If they act rudely, the child will see this as the way to act, not knowing the difference. If a parent doesn’t discipline, doesn’t provide a safe, secure home and acts without regard for authority, a child is likely to do the same. The only problem is that the child will also be likely to commit crimes and lean towards a violent nature. If the parent doesn’t influence the child with positive things, the child has no one else to blame but the parents.
