TORA TORA TORA
Tora! Tora! Tora!, is essentially two films that slowly intertwine to tell one story of the events that lead to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Both sides, American and Japanese are portrayed. The American forces are lead by Admiral Kimmel and the Japanese by Admiral Yamamoto. The movie shows the tensions between the two nations, and within the two nations, before the attack. It explains how the United States was aware of some sort of military offensive from the Japanese. They were not sure where, exactly, it was going to happen. It also shows the failure of the United States to initially respond to the threats posed to them by Japan before the actual attack. As the movie begins the Japanese are preparing for the attack. They first discuss their reasons for the attack, then test their bombers, and make their final plans for the assault. Most of the film is spent showing the Japanese preparation for the bombing and the U.S. forces trying to fi

Tora! show the actual attack on Pearl Harbor. It made clear that no one really knew much about the coming attack. Overall I’d rate this movie at a thumb and one half. It was definitely worth watching even though it was a little long. The constant flow of factual information, which seemed historically accurate, kept me interested throughout most of the movie. In comparison to the most recent film about Pearl Harbor, Pearl Harbor, Tora, Tora presents the story of this attack with less fantasy and more realism. One thing I didn’t like about the movie was the way it presented the characters. I had to watch the movie twice to figure out who everyone was. It would have been helpful had the script of the movie used the people’s names more often. Other than
