Fallen Angels

There were a lot of changes in Perry and Peewee's personalities and outlook on life throughout the book. A year in Vietnam really changed them and how they saw the war.
In the beginning of the book they joined the army because they wanted to get out of where they lived, or just wanted to get treated fairly. Both Perry and Peewee were a bit nave and pretty much fearless. Throughout their year in Vietnam though, they learned they could not be fearless, and they had to be scared sometimes or they would probably whined up dead. Yet you also could not be scared all the time or that is another easy way to get yourself killed. Perry and Peewee also learned how to trust each other and the rest of their squad. In the beginning they did not really know anyone, so it was hard to trust people they did not know. As they spend more and more days in Vietnam they had to depend on each other, and their squad more. Like when Perry and Peewee were stuck in a Cong's spider hole together, they had to trust in each other or they never would have made it out alive. By the end of the book Perry also learned how it feels to really love someone and be loved. He loved everyone on his squad and all the friends he made there in Vietnam. Perry and Peewee will most likely appreciate life more now, because many times they came so close to death, and all the dying they saw going on around them will make them appreciate it so much more because they know they got through it and are still alive today.
In conclusion Perry and Peewee changed a lot, and when they are home things will probably seem a lot different. Basically they are different people now then they were before. They know how the war really is, and that it's not how they make it out to be on television. It's more than that, and they will never forget.
