Atticus

To Kill A Mocking Bird deals with many primal and basic lessons in human nature. The book exposes many issues that affect most people throughout their lives. One of these characters is Atticus Finch. Atticus Finch is a good lawyer, a devoted family man who

manages to care for his children without the help of their mother, who died., and a man who shows extreme integrity in the novel. Atticus follows as a lawyer and his family prior to and during a legal case to defend a black male, Tom Robinson, charged of raping a white female, Mayella Ewell. This occurs in a very white orientated town called Maycomb. Atticus Finch, Attorney and father of two children only plays a brief part in the opening chapter but as this epic novel progresses so does his importance.

Atticus Finch is a good lawyer, who believes in justice and the justice system. Atticus Finch would have been one of the few lawyers of his time who could honestly admit that he believes that the justice system should be color blind. Through Scouts eyes we only get the smaller details of the Tom Robinson trial in the beginning, although her point of view also makes Atticus, her father, seem to us, as he would seem to her: a hero.
