ANCIENT WORLD HISTORY

Throughout all the changes that have occurred, European civilization has had a powerful influence on world history. Europeans made great advances in learning and the arts as well as in science and technology. They believe that humans lived in Europe more than a million years ago. The diversity of Europe’s population reflects a history of migrations throughout he continent. Industrialization is nearly three-fourths of Europe’s people live in urban areas. Differences in European ways of life were influenced by culture and tradition, economic development, and political systems. Greek and Roman civilizations served as models for the western world. After World War II, Europe became the center of the cold war, which divided Communist-controlled Eastern Europe from non-Communist Western Europe. In Europe there are about 50 different languages. Most of Europe’s Christians are Roman Catholics. Respect for education was well respected and in Europe they have some of the best educated. Soccer is the national sport in Europe. The 15 European countries worked hard to become in economic unity despite all the difficulties that they faced. The three main economies are agriculture, manufacturing, and services. Transportation is a major mean


of importance. The Fastest train in the world is France’s trains a grande vitesse. The continent of Europe is a huge peninsula that extends westward from the landmass. Europe has a long coastline, many peninsulas, and is surrounded by many seas. Rivers are very important because they provide transportation routes. Europe has major coal, iron ore, oil, and natural gas deposits. Its natural vegetation is influenced by climate and human interaction. Their climate varies from milder climate due to warm ocean currents and the Northwestern parts has a marine was coast climate. The interior of Europe has extreme seasonal temperatures.

Russia and the Eurasian Republics land spans two continents Europe and Asia. All of the republics except Russia, Georgia, and Ukraine are landlocked. The Ural Mountains run north to south and they separating Russia and European section of Asia. The Kara Kum is one of central Asia’s largest deserts. The Caspian Sea is the world’s largest inland lake, covers 143,630 square miles. Azerbaijan’s capital, Baku, lies in one of the world’s major oil-producing areas.
